Self-guided walking trip along the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne. We chose to complete the route in 9 days but other durations were available with Mickledore. The Mickledore booking process was very easy. All of the hotels/B&B’s were excellent with friendly, helpful hosts and very good breakfasts. There were very good options nearby for evening meals if the place we were staying didn’t have that option. The route was very well signposted and easy to follow. The guidebook provided by Mickledore was excellent. A reasonable level of fitness is required as there is a fair amount of uphill/downhill along the way, especially when you have to leave the trail to get to your accommodation. At various points the route could be seen well into the distance so there was a real sense of achievement when our self-appointed landmarks were met. We would recommend this trip through Mickledore as it was very well organised, had lovely places to stay and wonderful ever-changing scenery along the way.

There was extensive information on the Mickledore website about the trip. The booking process was very easy. Once confirmed the holiday pack arrived quickly by post. It contained detailed information about all of the places we would be staying, local information about places to eat/emergency contact info etc as well as a detailed guide book and map. The guide book was excellent and included detailed maps for each section of the route. All of the hotels/B&B’s were excellent and our luggage was transferred for us seamlessly between them. We’re already thinking about our next trip with Mickledore.

We walked the Cleveland Way in May. 110 miles over 11days. Accomodation was varied including village pubs, B&Bs and even a beautiful 4* country house hotel. The route was generally well sign posted and we enjoyed a great contrast in scenery, walking through farmland, woodland and moorland, and then along the beautiful coastal path. Taxi transfers were included where accomodation was too far off route, luggage transfers worked effectively and everything went to plan.

We love the fact that Mickledore has a great range of long distance walks and plenty of options for slower walkers, such as ourselves, with lower mileage each day. Mickledore are consistently good in their communication with clients and we were impressed that they responded personally to us regarding our feedback on the accomodation in a couple of remote locations where standards were less than ideal – they indicated that they would look at better options in future, even if it involved taxi transfers. Overall, we had a great holiday and feel that Mickledore genuinely have clients’ best interests at heart.

Walking holiday over 5 days planned from St Bees to Patterdale. Mickledore Travel organised accommodation and support such as moving bags. It was my first experience of a UK long distance walk and it was a fabulous one. We were lucky to have only one rainy day and even then enjoyed the walk as the scenery is so incredible. Staying in hotels along the way allowed rest and recuperation for the next day ahead.

At short notice they were able to books accommodation for a popular walk. This did involve using a hotel they had little experience of so they checked with us before booking. They also arranged for the bag collections and movements, even with a last minute final day change and were flexible and helpful. We gave them feedback abut the hotels used and what extra information we would have found helpful and they were appreciative and listened so clearly work to improve the customer experience.

We would recommend walking the Dingle Way. Good way marking, great views and a warm welcome. Easy to get to the start from Kerry airport. We have used Mickledore before and yet again they didn’t disappoint. All the travel information is clear and they are always on hand to help if needed.
