Self-guided walking trip along the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne. We chose to complete the route in 9 days but other durations were available with Mickledore. The Mickledore booking process was very easy. All of the hotels/B&B’s were excellent with friendly, helpful hosts and very good breakfasts. There were very good options nearby for evening meals if the place we were staying didn’t have that option. The route was very well signposted and easy to follow. The guidebook provided by Mickledore was excellent. A reasonable level of fitness is required as there is a fair amount of uphill/downhill along the way, especially when you have to leave the trail to get to your accommodation. At various points the route could be seen well into the distance so there was a real sense of achievement when our self-appointed landmarks were met. We would recommend this trip through Mickledore as it was very well organised, had lovely places to stay and wonderful ever-changing scenery along the way.

There was extensive information on the Mickledore website about the trip. The booking process was very easy. Once confirmed the holiday pack arrived quickly by post. It contained detailed information about all of the places we would be staying, local information about places to eat/emergency contact info etc as well as a detailed guide book and map. The guide book was excellent and included detailed maps for each section of the route. All of the hotels/B&B’s were excellent and our luggage was transferred for us seamlessly between them. We’re already thinking about our next trip with Mickledore.

The West Highland Way is a long distance walk (96 miles) through the Scottish wild lands. We saw incredible scenery all along the way experiencing the beauty of Loch Lomond, Rannoch Moor, Devil’s Staircase and the highlands ending in Fort William. We chose to do the walk in 9 days with a day off for site seeing in Oban. Mikledore worked hard to ensure we had excellent accommodation along the way including baggage transfer and packed lunches when available. What a memorable trip! Everything went so smoothly. Although the walk was challenging and long at times we were able to relax in the evening at our accommodations and enjoy a great meal.

We would not hesitate to use Mickledore for our next walking holiday in UK. We used them last year for two walks and now they have us hooked on long distance walking. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with Mickledore to design our walks. They are so quick to respond and offer experienced advice. They research information for us so we can just concentrate on preparing for the walk. Even though there was a time difference of 7 hours between our home in Canada and England this was never an issue – we still had excellent communication with Mickledore. We are hoping to travel to England next year and have Mickledore plan a walking trip for us.

We booked our West Highland Way walking holiday with Mickledore. This is our second time using them – two walking trips last year in England and one this year in Scotland. We will use them again next year for another walking holiday in England. They provide well organized and thoughtfully planned guidance on the self guided walking routes in the UK, a guide book, map and details on each day’s walk and accommodation, luggage transfer and the accommodation based on their extensive experience in providing these walking routes over many years. They did all the leg work so we could enjoy a worry free walking holiday.. We would highly recommend Mickledore to other walkers.
