We walked the Cleveland Way in May. 110 miles over 11days. Accomodation was varied including village pubs, B&Bs and even a beautiful 4* country house hotel. The route was generally well sign posted and we enjoyed a great contrast in scenery, walking through farmland, woodland and moorland, and then along the beautiful coastal path. Taxi transfers were included where accomodation was too far off route, luggage transfers worked effectively and everything went to plan.

We love the fact that Mickledore has a great range of long distance walks and plenty of options for slower walkers, such as ourselves, with lower mileage each day. Mickledore are consistently good in their communication with clients and we were impressed that they responded personally to us regarding our feedback on the accomodation in a couple of remote locations where standards were less than ideal – they indicated that they would look at better options in future, even if it involved taxi transfers. Overall, we had a great holiday and feel that Mickledore genuinely have clients’ best interests at heart.

Using Mickledore Travel we booked a walking holiday from Settle to Carlisle. This involved Mickledore booking the accommodation, taxi connections and a company to transport our cases from accommodation to accommodation. Al worked very efficiently and we were able to enjoy the walk. The weather was good and the Holiday Pack provided by Mickledore very good

We have used Mickledore for more than six walking holidays.
The service they provide is excellent and as proved on this holiday above and beyond expectations. When we had been given the the wrong keysafe code for one of the accommodations on a Sunday evening at about 5 pm. A call to Mickledore and it was sorted it in 15 minutes.
The Holiday Pack Mickledore provides was spot on as usual, very detailed information that made finding each night’s accommodation straightforward and lots of useful local information – eating, taxi, shopping etc.
As part of this walking holiday Mickledore could not find accommodation on route and arrranged – and paid for – an excellent taxi service, Peacock Taxis. The service was friendly and we were whisked us to and from the Guest House safely and efficiently.
The Mickledore App is very useful when on the move, works very well. Great to be able to access accommodation details easily online.
Mickledore just does the job so well and we have already recommended you to friends who have also enjoyed walks organised by them.
We would highly recommend Mickledore.

Holiday rating

We completed the Northumberland Coast Walk and the Gower Peninsula Walk in June and July 2025. We chose these 2 walks as we wanted a bit of variety for local culture, as well as wanting to spend time near the sea.

The Northumberland was relatively flat as it followed the North Sea coastline. Lots of historic structures see and many quiet sections to walk. The path was restful and peaceful.

The Gower Peninsula was a more hilly topography, with its ups and downs. The sandy climbs on the west shore opened onto wonderful sunny views of long beaches. The south shore had ever-changing, yet enjoyable weather as we traversed the small rocky canyons. And we got to experience some unique Welsh culture and history.

What helped make this double walking tour holiday even better was the groundwork put in by our tour operator, Mickeldore Travel. Their staff personally visit the accommodations and restaurants they use and recommend. They made suggestions as to adjusting our walking dates in order that we had no inconveniences due to locale. This was our 4th and 5th walking tours with Mickeldore, and they made everything work perfectly as they did the first three.
