Great walking trail from north Glasgow to Fort William. Lucky to have had good weather and great accommodation arranged for me with baggage transferred. I added an extra night in Fort William to give me the opportunity to climb Ben Nevis.

Mickledore are a great company to use when booking your UK based walking holidays. They have lots of knowledge and experience and are easy to talk to. I managed to get all my accommodation on the route and was very happy with all the places I stayed at. This is the first time I have used them as I have only just developed an interest in long distance trails and will definitely be using them again. We walked a small chunk of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Milford Haven to St David’s over 5 days. As New Zealanders we wanted to experience hiking UK-style and it didn’t disappoint. The scenery was spectacular and the terrain varied. Definitely a highlight of our time in Europe.

Holiday rating

A variation on the standard West Highland Way but with stops to accommodate our health needs. This year we completed the last section from Bridge of Orchy to Fort William during September with extra stop overs, at a time of year which puts the tour operators under a lot of pressure. The month was important for us not only because of the reduction in midges because September is blood cancer awareness month and I wanted to raise awareness for the work of Anthony Nolan. A superb walk with a lot of international participation. The accommodation was perfect and even the weather was kind to us. A trip to remember.

Company rating

Mickledore are so professional in putting together all the customer requirements. The route of the walk is well known but the participants are of different ages, backgrounds, accommodation requests and have individual special requirements. The complexity of something which on face value appears simple needs staff who actually know the details, and Mickledore do. The excellent information package prior to going and the knowledge that they are available if anything goes wrong means that there is complete peace of mind. A really good example of good customer first focus.
