We followed St Oswald’s Way from Holy Island in Northumberland to Heavenfield on Hadrian’s Wall Path. The walk from Holy Island to Warkworth followed the coastal path, taking in beautiful scenery and magnificent castles. From Warkworth, we headed inland, through the Cheviots and down to the Hadrian’s Wall Path.

Company rating

Accommodation, breakfast, packed lunches, and luggage transfer were all organised for us by Mickledore so that all we had to do was walk and source our own evening meal. The B&Bs were, without exception, really good, plus Mickledore provided all the information we needed, including where to eat en route and all other local services. It was a beautiful walk, made even more enjoyable because it was completely stress-free.

It is a superb walk, with stunning scenery along the way. The route includes babbling rivers, teaming with wildlife, quaint villages and desolate moors. The pubs and B&Bs are excellent, with very friendly owners and delicious breakfasts.

Mickledore were excellent, providing a superb service with booking the accommodation and providing all the essential information we needed about facilities along the route, places to eat, maps and a great guide book, which highlighted points of interest along the route.

We did a self-guided walking trip on the Dales High Way, and loved it. It was challenging in terms of elevation and navigation, but that just makes it more fun. The landscape is so beautiful, the accommodations were great, and the people were lovely. We’re eager to return to that area because of this lovely trip!

Mickledore did it again: we’ve just returned from our second trip with them, this time on the Dales High Way. What a gorgeous part of England! Our trip was well planned by Mickledore, and all the details worked out well. Since we’ve now had two trips with them that are so well planned and go so smoothly, we know we can trust them to do this regularly. We are already thinking about what walking trip we want to do next summer!
