We walked from the west coast of England to the east coast walking along the famous coast to coast trail through three of Britain’s national parks. It took 18 days including 2 rest days. Mickledore arranged all our accommodations and luggage transfers and everything need for the trip.

A variation on the standard West Highland Way but with stops to accommodate our health needs. This year we completed the last section from Bridge of Orchy to Fort William during September with extra stop overs, at a time of year which puts the tour operators under a lot of pressure. The month was important for us not only because of the reduction in midges because September is blood cancer awareness month and I wanted to raise awareness for the work of Anthony Nolan. A superb walk with a lot of international participation. The accommodation was perfect and even the weather was kind to us. A trip to remember.

Company rating

Mickledore are so professional in putting together all the customer requirements. The route of the walk is well known but the participants are of different ages, backgrounds, accommodation requests and have individual special requirements. The complexity of something which on face value appears simple needs staff who actually know the details, and Mickledore do. The excellent information package prior to going and the knowledge that they are available if anything goes wrong means that there is complete peace of mind. A really good example of good customer first focus.

Holiday rating

Most recently, the Great Glen Way in Scotland. This is a popular walk through relatively remote (under served) area bookended by well served “tourist” towns of Fort William and Inverness. Accomodations and local guidance were excellent and consistent, especially considering the demand.

I have now done four or five sole, self-guided walks with Mickledore. Always timely, professional responses. All is “as advertised”. I would argue that accomodations typically exceed expectations. Traveling from overseas (and often coupling walking trip with business trip) so response and meeting expectations are critical.
